National Trails Day at the Riverwalk

Get excited! National Trails Day is back and bigger than ever. Come out and spruce up the Riverwalk with us, make new friends, and enjoy FREE food and drink in the sunshine. It’ll be a blast – be sure to sign up!

  • Location Hosts: Santa Cruz Mountains Trail StewardshipCity of Santa CruzCoastal Watershed Council 
  • Project Accessibility:
    • ADA-accessible, bike-friendly, beginner-friendly location.
    • Difficulty: Moderate.
    • No poison oak present on work zone.
    • Participants should be ready to walk 0.5-1.0 miles on flat terrain while carrying hand tools and gear.
    • The location will be conducted exclusively in English.
  • Project Site Captain: Kaiya Giuliano-Monroy (Coastal Watershed Council River Ecologist)
  • What: Join the Coastal Watershed Council to plant and maintain native seedlings along the banks of the San Lorenzo River to increase biodiversity and revitalize the river ecosystem on of our County’s most beautiful urban trails – the Santa Cruz Riverwalk!   • Sign-Up Required! Register for the event HERE

Outline of the day:

9:40 a.m. — Show up to your project location and enjoy some snacks and coffee on the house. Meet your crew for the day.
10:00 a.m. — Safety talks and project briefs.
10:10 a.m. — Invasive removal and native plant maintenance.
12 p.m. — Clean tools and pack up. Please note some projects are finishing earlier than others!
2 p.m. — After-party! Meet at Woodhouse Brewing for free food (Sampa Brazilian Kitchen), drinks (Woodhouse + non-alcoholic options), live music, and raffle prizes from our awesome sponsors.
