Water quality monitoring interns at the Coastal Watershed Council gain valuable field skills in watersheds across Santa Cruz County. In the summer of 2016, CWC welcomed Hannah to our water quality monitoring team. Hannah is a UCSC student who’s a fast learner and dove into water quality monitoring at CWC. Hear all about her experience:

“I first started as a volunteer with the Coastal Watershed Council doing water quality monitoring for both the Capitola Urban Watch program and the San Lorenzo River study. I wanted to gain more field experience and CWC had the perfect opportunity. I then became an intern, where I not only did the water quality monitoring, but also learned new skills such as data analysis, equipment calibration and outreach. I value the opportunity that CWC has given me to learn what not only goes on in the field, but also the important work that goes on behind the scenes. The staff are always so friendly and eager to answer any questions I have which makes this place such a great and welcoming learning environment. This internship has made me more comfortable with the idea of landing a career post-graduation because of the skills and experiences I have gained. Thank you CWC!”
