Trees to Seas Scotts Valley Library Lecture:
Since 2014, the San Lorenzo River Alliance have been working to address bacteria levels in the San Lorenzo River. Made up of stormwater professionals and water quality scientists from the City of Santa Cruz Public Works and Water Departments, Santa Cruz County Environmental Health, Surfrider Foundation and the Coastal Watershed Council, the Alliance uses water quality monitoring to identify where bacteria is coming from in our watershed. Results from 2014 and 2016 studies are being used to inform best practices to reduce future bacterial deposition. Learn about water quality threats facing your San Lorenzo River and it’s tributaries like Carbonera Creek and what we can all do it improve the watershed’s health.
Join the Coastal Watershed Council River Scientist Alev Bilginsoy at Scott’s Valley Public Library to discuss findings of the 2016 study and the launch of a public information campaign on common bacteria sources. This lecture is part of the Scotts Valley Public Library’s Trees to Seas Series.
