Are you a plumber in Santa Cruz? Get ready for new sewer lateral inspection requirements in the City of Santa Cruz.

Beginning November 2017, the City of Santa Cruz will implement a revised Sanitary Sewer Ordinance. The revisions will require that only licensed plumbers certified with the NASSCO-PACL training address:

  1. A sewer spill or sanitary sewer overflow,
  2. Sewer lateral inspections occurring during point of sale of property
  3. Cleaning or video inspection of multi-unit properties that contain private sanitary sewer collection systems
  4. Cleaning or video inspection of properties with more than five dwelling units that contain private lift stations.

The City of Santa Cruz Public Works Department will sponsor the NASSCO (National Association of Sewer Service Companies) PACL (Pipeline Assessment Certification Program) training on September 11 and 12. This training costs $800.00 per person, however the Public Works Department will cover $700. 00 per person cost. Each attendee who completes the training will walk away with a NASSCO-PCL certification (certificate will be mailed) and they will be added to the City of Santa Cruz Public Works Department list of “Certified Sewer Inspectors”.
