There are two surveys out from the City of Santa Cruz requesting your input on the future of Santa Cruz. Each survey takes about 15 minutes to complete.
Downtown Expansion Plan Survey
Take the Downtown Expansion Plan Survey by September 1 to share your excitement for an enhanced Riverwalk experience, how you would like to access the San Lorenzo River through improved bike and pedestrian access and what features you’d like to see in a river-facing plaza! Here are the ways in which you can highlight the San Lorenz River in your responses:
- Question #1 – Rank ‘Better Connect Downtown with the River’ and ‘Opportunities for Public Amenities’ as your first and second choices!
- Question # 8 – Select your support for specific features that better connect the Riverwalk to downtown
- Question #10 – Select your support for specific features that you would like to see along the Riverwalk
- Question #11 – Add your own ideas for features you’d like to see on the riverfront.

Local Hazard Mitigation and Climate Adaptation Plan Survey
Next, check out the Local Hazard Mitigation + Climate Adaptation Plan Public Survey. It’s open to responses until September 15. This survey is designed to help develop citywide strategies on how to best mitigate the effects of natural disasters and climate hazards before they happen. You have the opportunity to share what most concerns you and what you think the City should prioritize to prepare for future climate hazards. The data from this survey will be used to update the Local Hazard Mitigation + Climate Adaptation Plan, which when approved, makes our community eligible to receive grant funding to help prevent damage and reduce risk in neighborhoods throughout the City of Santa Cruz.
