A team of researchers from the Baskin School of Engineering at UC Santa Cruz are inviting members of the public to participate in a new series of workshops, entitled “Co-Develop Tools for Coastal Flooding Risks”.

The workshop series will be hosted at the Downtown Santa Cruz Public Library. These workshops are being offered to understand the challenges that individuals in the community may encounter when seeking accurate information during flood-related emergencies in our area.

The workshop series will look at what your challenges are and explore how to tackle them together with you. For this, the researchers are looking for local residents who are English speakers and 18 years of age or older. The workshop series consists of three, 2-hour sessions held at the Downtown branch of the Santa Cruz Public Library (224 Church St, Santa Cruz) on the following dates:

  • Sunday, February 16, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, March 16, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
  • Sunday April 20, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Each participant will receive a $40 Amazon voucher for every workshop that you participate in, and snacks and drinks will be provided.

As the workshops are part of a research project, the sessions will be audio-recorded, and we will take pictures and videos from brainstorming materials, but no personal information will be shared outside our team.

Your participation is completely voluntary, and you are welcome to bring another person. However, registration is required and preference will be given to participants who can join all three sessions.

Interested in participating? Please register here with your name and contact information.
