Water Tour: Soquel Creek Fish Count
October 2, 2016 @ 8:30 am - 2:00 pm

One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish! Join the Coastal Watershed Council and fisheries biologist Don Alley for Soquel Creek’s annual fish count where you’ll get to see and count the fish of Soquel Creek up close. At this family-friendly tour, you will have the opportunity to learn about fish ecology, see native fish of Soquel Creek and lend a hand in the annual fish count. A boat just upstream of the Stockton Bridge in the Village of Capitola will drop a seine net in the water, which will then be lifted to pull in and capture fish. Throughout the day steelhead trout will be caught and checked for markers, from which biologists can estimate the number of steelhead living in Soquel Creek.
This event will take place on Sunday October 2nd from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Feel free to join us for a long as you are available.
RSVP required. Email Mollie Behn at mbehn@coastal-watershed.org
