Volunteer and make a difference in the San Lorenzo River ecosystem!
Volunteer and support the San Lorenzo River ecosystem with Lookout Santa Cruz! Join River Ecologist Kaiya Giuliano-Monroy and Lookout staffers on Saturday May 13th to learn more about the San Lorenzo River and get your hands dirty maintaining the native ecosystem along the river banks. This volunteer event is happening from 10am – 12pm and is open to the public.
We will meet on the east riverbank between the Soquel Ave and Laurel Street bridges. Free parking is available in the CWC parking lot at 107 Dakota Ave. Paid parking is also available on Dakota Avenue or across the river in downtown Santa Cruz. The closest parking garage is at 601 Front Street.
We recommend that all volunteers dress in comfortable gardening clothes, including long pants, socks and sturdy closed-toe shoes. Bring layers, sun protection and a reusable water bottle. Gloves, tools and light refreshments will be provided.
All ages and abilities welcome. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Call (831) 464 9200 x104, or email CWC River Ecologist Kaiya Giuliano-Monroy with any questions before the event. RSVP for this and other River Health Day events below!
*If you are a Lookout Member please meet the Lookout staff at Cat & Cloud in Abbott Square at 9:15 am for a complimentary coffee and a walk along the riverwalk. We’ll discuss the upcoming changes and construction projects coming downtown as we make our way to the restoration site. Not sure if you are a Lookout member or want to sign up?
