Public Meeting: Newell Creek Dam Inlet/Outlet Pipe Replacement

As the City of Santa Cruz continues to move forward with a proposed plan to replace the Newell Creek Dam inlet/outlet pipe, the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on the project will be available for public review and comment November 7, 2018 through December 21, 2018. The proposed project consists of replacing the dam’s aged inlet/outlet works in tandem with other associated improvements. Public meetings on the project and the Draft EIR will be held on Tuesday, December 11, and Thursday, December 13. The Draft EIR will be available for review online beginning November 7 at www.cityofsantacruz.com/government/city-departments/water/newell-creek-dam-project Comments on the Draft EIR must be received in writing by email or mail to Sarah Easley Perez, City of Santa Cruz Water Department, 212 Locust Street, Santa Cruz 95060 or seasleyperez@cityofsantacruz.com. Comments must be received by 5:00PM December 21, 2018.

The Santa Cruz Water Department serves water to 98,000 customers, processes 6-8 million gallons of water per day, manages 4,000 acres of watershed lands, oversees 300 miles of distribution lines, runs a state-certified water quality laboratory, and provides summertime recreation activities at the Loch Lomond Reservoir and Recreation Area.
