Hydroponics and Aquaponics Water Tour

June 6, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

hydroponics

Learn how to grow plants without soil. Join the Coastal Watershed Council and Cabrillo College in a tour of the hydroponics and aquaponic facilities at Cabrillo College led by Peter Shaw, Chair of the Horticulture Department at Cabrillo College. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil using mineral or organic fertilizers in water. Aquaponics combines fish, bacteria and plants into a system that converts fish food into edible (or ornamental) food, and plants. These forms of growing plants can help reduce nutrient pollution heading into our watershed and reduce the amount of water used to produce our food.
