Our San Lorenzo River: Past, Present and Future
Presentation to the History Forum
Greg Pepping, the Executive Director of the Coastal Watershed Council and ardent San Lorenzo River enthusiast, will share historical facts and stories about the river and its watershed. In addition, he will give us an inside look at his efforts to transform Santa Cruz county’s relationship with its largest watershed from one of benign neglect to one of respect, recreation, and restoration. Greg’s Peace Corps work in Uganda inspired him to earn a Master of Science degree, specializing in water chemistry at the University of Wisconsin. In 2014, Greg won a local NEXTie award for his formation and leadership of the San Lorenzo River Alliance, a coalition of local agencies and other groups to reconnect Santa Cruz to this key river. Please join us to learn first-hand what’s in the works for making the river a more integral part of our local quality of life.
RSVP by September 10th by calling 425-5707 so we can plan for seating in the MAH auditorium. History Forum members attend quarterly events for free. For all other guests, the fee is $8.
