Rescheduled Geology of the San Lorenzo River: A Tour in Memory of Pauly Kiezel

February 11, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

San Lorenzo River

Pauly Kiezel loved observing, walking and exploring the San Lorenzo River, which nearly flowed through his backyard in Boulder Creek. This January, to remember the anniversary of his passing, the Coastal Watershed Council will host a water tour in his honor.

On Saturday, February 11th from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., please join us to walk one of Pauly’s favorite paths along the river and explore how the river shapes and is shaped by the landscape. As we observe riffles, pond, bedrock and silt, we will discuss the interplay between human factors, ecology and geology of the stream.

The tour will be led by Jon Perkins, a Research Geologist at the United States Geological Survey. Jon studies the geomorphology of rivers, landslides, and volcanoes in the Western US and South America and was, until recently, a neighbor to the San Lorenzo River.

We’ll meet at Barbara Day Park on E. Lomond Street and Irwin Way in Boulder Creek. Please wear sturdy walking shoes and sign up to reserve your spot.
