(Postponed due to rain) Exploring the San Lorenzo River Series Tour: Field Drawing Along the San Lorenzo River
May 18, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Explore the San Lorenzo River Habitat Enhancement site with local artist, botanist and educator Melody Overstreet. Learn about the ecological community at the San Lorenzo River through observation, plant care, drawing and guided reflection. We will start the tour caring for native plants and discuss their role in the ecological community and various medicinal uses and ethnobotanical significance. We will develop our naturalist eye through the practice of drawing plant species and the landscape. CWC will provide gardening tools and drawing paper, clipboards, pencils and charcoal. Participants are encouraged to bring the art materials they would like to work with.
This tour will start at the Coastal Watershed Council offices at 107 Dakota Avenue in Santa Cruz and take place on the Santa Cruz Riverwalk.
