CWC is pleased to welcome Sammie as our Seasonal Restoration Technician. Sammie supports riparian habitat restoration at the San Lorenzo River through invasive species removal, native seed installation, vegetation monitoring, and volunteer engagement. They help lead diverse volunteer groups, including individuals experiencing homelessness in the River Stewards program, and promote watershed conservation and stewardship through environmental education.

Sammie holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies (with a concentration in Conservation Science and Policy) from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Prior to joining CWC, they were a Field Inquiry Mentor for UCSC and encouraged students to develop ecological inquiry through hikes and hands-on outdoor learning experiences. Sammie also created a student-run organization focused on free environmental education through nature-based activities, which fostered environmental literacy and connections to local ecosystems. They recognize that eliminating barriers to eco-education allows individuals from all walks of life to connect with nature. Welcome to our team, Sammie!
