CWC is thrilled to welcome Patrick to our team as CWC’s new River Ecologist! In this role, Patrick will steward the San Lorenzo River through community-driven ecological restoration. He works alongside and inspires volunteers of all backgrounds from throughout Santa Cruz county to preserve the ecological function of the Lower San Lorenzo. Already, he has played a major role in the relaunch of CWC’s River Stewards habitat restoration program for unhoused volunteers in partnership with People First of Santa Cruz County, and will continue leading weekly River Stewards events at the river.
Patrick was born and raised in Southern California before moving up to Cal State Monterey Bay, where he received his B.S. in Environmental Science with an emphasis in Watershed Analysis. His ecological experience includes field work at Fort Ord National Monument and the Willamette Valley of Western Oregon, as well as leading coastal, riparian, and chaparral habitat restoration events throughout Santa Cruz County. With his passion for native species preservation and focus on community engagement, Patrick is helping people explore, enhance, and protect the San Lorenzo’s beauty and important natural resources. Welcome, Patrick, we are so excited to have you joining our work!
