The Watershed Rangers environmental education engages students in a sequence of four activities that progressively increase students’ awareness and literacy of environmental issues appropriate to their grade level. Upon completion of the activities, students will pledge their commitment to share their new knowledge with others and will be “sworn in” as a Watershed Ranger, receiving their very own wooden badge. Activities are interdisciplinary and support Next Generation Science Standards. Activities take place in either the classroom, school campus or to a local creek. It is desired that a teacher schedule all four lessons to share the full benefits of the program with their students. All lessons led by CWC educators are free of charge. The Coastal Watershed Council service area focuses on Santa Cruz County.
