“Edith has been a local business owner and artist for over ten years. I’ve been a commuter for the last 14. The arrival of our children has dramatically changed our interactions with our city, giving us new eyes to experience the complex interplay of natural beauty and vibrant culture throughout our neighborhoods. We’re saddened by the difficulties the community faces in balancing services and respectful behavior in public spaces, and see the river as a critical connector serving alternative transportation, nature, the downtown and surrounding communities, the beach and an uncommon greenbelt of parks. We believe in the connection of community and water, are working to instill that in our children, and are excited to see that rekindled through the efforts of CWC.”

“I ride along the river trail about twice a week, often with my family and grandkids. The San Lorenzo River is one of the natural wonders of Santa Cruz, weaving in and out of public spaces downtown. It is a critical connector for alternative transportation. I love biking beside nature and use the corridor to accomplish my chores across town. The connection between water and the community instills an appreciation for nature in my grandchildren. Sereno Group and I have a strong commitment to preserving the river and our natural resources. We are currently contributing 1% of our commissions to the Coastal Watershed Council. I’m excited to see what we can achieve with our 1% for Good campaign for the San Lorenzo River.”

“I have lived half a block from the San Lorenzo River for 19 years. During that time, I have loved walking six different dogs along the Riverwalk, from Great Danes to my current 5 lb. ‘Chorkie,’ Sophie. Sophie is now 17 years old, deaf and mostly blind and our favorite place to walk is still by the river. A couple of years ago, I met CWC Executive Director Greg Pepping. I was so impressed with the work he, CWC and San Lorenzo River Alliance are doing to improve life on the river for people and nature. It is an honor to be a monthly donor and volunteer for CWC and I invite others to join me in supporting CWC as you are able.”
