As I reflect on the past year in this video, I am heartened that 2024 has given us much to celebrate at the San Lorenzo River! Amidst real challenges at the river, we have made many visible signs of progress towards the thriving urban riverfront we all want to see. I am so grateful to share this update with you – this progress wouldn’t have been possible without your support!

  • 🎨 CWC Artists-in-Residence, The Jams, transformed underutilized spaces along the riverfront by painting six beautiful river-themed murals to elevate the profile of the San Lorenzo River in our community
  • 💧The next generation of environmental stewards grew by more than 1,300 youth who were sworn in as Watershed Rangers as they learned about and completed projects that benefited the San Lorenzo River
  • 🌿 CWC volunteers improved the river’s habitat by removing more than 5,000 square feet of invasive species along the river – an area bigger than a basketball court!
  • 🦉Youth Watershed Rangers created 13 river wildlife art banners that now proudly welcome visitors along the Santa Cruz Riverwalk
  • 🚲 CWC united community members for a mural bike ride and River Jam, a celebration of the San Lorenzo River

And much more! CWC’s team is growing, we are expanding the area of our habitat restoration, and we are making other tangible progress for the San Lorenzo River thanks to you.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for all the ways you support CWC, whether as a volunteer, a donor, a river advocate – or all three! Let’s keep working together to create more positive changes for the San Lorenzo River in the year ahead!
