In the Urban Watch Program teams of volunteers monitor water from select storm drain outfalls in Capitola, Monterey and Pacific Grove. Volunteers spend between 4-8 hours a month conducting monitoring in the field. Volunteers work with field kits and meters to analyze storm drain water for common pollutants such as detergents, chlorine, copper, orthophosphate and ammonia-nitrogen. Lab samples are collected monthly for bacteria and nutrients. No experience is necessary.

Program runs from June – October 2008
